Skiing in the Grand Massif – Morillon – Samoëns

The villages of Morillon, Samoëns, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, Les Carroz and Flaine, constitute the ski area of the GRAND MASSIF. It is one of the most significant in France and even in the world (top 10 of the largest ski areas). Culminating at 2600 meters, it is the 2nd largest linked ski area in France in terms of average altitude, and the 1st largest linked ski area when you come from the northern half or the west of France.

The Grand Massif provides a natural environment and varied landscapes wherever you stand. Whether you’re in one of the 5 village resorts that constitute it. Each village has preserved its authentic character, which is what makes it so charming.
The Grand Massif resorts will give you a unique skiing experience. Alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing – snow lovers will be won over by the sumptuous virgin spaces of the Grand Massif!

The area generally benefits from a privileged snow coverage (80% of the slopes are exposed to the north, which favors a good snow holding).
A particularity of Morillon, a village located at 700 m of altitude: the red Doïna slope which connects Morillon-Les Esserts to Morillon-Village (departure of the gondola), that is to say a difference in altitude of 400 m, has snow cannons along its entire length which ensure a return to the village on skis.
It’s more than a particularity, it’s unique!

In addition to downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and ski touring, snowshoeing, walking on the many hiking trails (daytime or night-time outings), sledding, as well as indoor skating rink, ski joëring, dog sledding, snow scooters, gliding / paragliding / hang-gliding (solo or duo) and fat e-bikes (electrically assisted bicycles) complete the winter leisure activities in Morillon and the Haut-Giffre.

More simply, what would the mountains be without building a snowman or an igloo, and without the fierce snowball fights that bring together all generations?

And because not everyone skis or likes to take a break, there are also visits to eco-museums, cheese dairies, farms and remarkable sites of which Haute-Savoie is not lacking.
